ACES is excited to announce that both the Biopen Team and Invisible Catalyst Team have been named as finalists at the 2018 Australian Museum Eureka Prizes.

The Biopen Team has been nominated for Excellence in Interdisciplinary Scientific Research for their development of a handheld 3D printing device. The team consists of researchers from ACES at the University of Wollongong, including Professor Gordon Wallace and Dr Stephen Beirne as well as Professor Peter Choong from St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and the University of Melbourne.

The Invisible Catalyst Team has also been selected for an award and has been nominated for Scientific Research for their investigation of using electrical fields to catalyse chemical reactions, enabling greener and safer methods for fabricating materials. The team is led by ACES Chief Investigator Professor Michelle Coote from ANU and is in partnership with Curtin University’s Dr Simone Ciampi and Dr Nadim Darwish.

The Australian Museum Eureka Prizes will be announced on Wednesday 29 August, 2018 at an award dinner at Sydney Town Hall.
